Can I place an order without creating an account?

No. Due to the nature of custom work and ordering parts as you request them, we require you to make an acccount so we can contact you in the event we have an issue or delay in your order. As a bonus, so you can stay up to date on your order status and see what stage your saws are in. If you are looking for our current fullfillment timelines, please check out our Current Order Timeline tab above.

Where is my order confirmation?

This is automatically sent to your email address when you place an order. If you haven’t received your order confirmation within 24 hours, please get in touch at Info@BadAxeToolWorks.com just in case there’s a problem with your order. Please check your mailbox’s spam or junk folder before contacting in case the order confirmation has been diverted there.

How do I cancel my order?

There is only a short amount of time between when you place your order and when we start processing it. If you contact us straight away after ordering , via Info@BadAxeToolWorks.com, we may be able to cancel your order before it’s processed. If not, we’ll dispatch your order and then you can return it to us if you wish upon receiving it. If you are wanting to return a custom saw, please see our return policy in the FAQ dropdown under refund information.

Can I change my order?

For most changes, you will need to contact us within 5 days of ordering your custom saw otherwise a service fee will be charged and may delay your order.

Can I track my order?

Yes. We’ll provide updates at every stage of your order, from the moment you place, and more via your customer account page. In your shipping and delivery confirmation emails, you’ll also receive a tracking reference which you can use to check the progress of your order online.

Saw Related Questions

Can I change the tooth count (ppi) on my D8?

No. While we can retooth back saws on our machine, doing so to ou hand saw plates will make them bow trememdously. For quality control, we do not offer custom PPI on our D8 style of saws. 

What if I want a custom filing on my saw?

We can only customize the filing on our back saws at this time. If you are interested in this service, please contact Info@BadAxeToolWorks.com and we will work with you on your next project. This could pose an additional fee depending on filing requested.

 

 

Why doesn’t my handle look like the ones in the picture?

Wood grain and ray flecking vary from tree to tree and handle to handle. 

How do I measure my hand size?

Do you still do vintage restoration or seminars?

We no longer take on vintage work or seminars at Bad Axe, however, Mark Harrell (founder of Bad Axe) is just next door and he is available to tune up your saws or host you for a sharpening seminar! Contact him at SawSharp.com

Warranty Questions

Resharpening my Bad Axe Saw

The short answer is yes! We offer resharpening on Bad Axe saws only, starting at $25 USD plus shipping. Please reach out to Airek directly at ship@badaxetoolworks.com to get a return label and walk you through the resharpening process. After your saw is back in the hands of the sawmakers, the turnaround time is quick and your saw will be back in your hands in no time. For vintage saws that need tuning up, you can reach out to Mark Harrell at mark@sawsharp.com or go to his website SawSharp.com

Can I replace parts with my own? Is my saw still covered under warranty?

Yes, you can change the parts to whatever you would like on your custom saw; but if your saw needs maintenance and it is no longer the original parts, your warranty is voided. This includes swapping the handle to one not from Bad Axe Tool Works, taking a coating off of a back and/or fasteners, etc.  

Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the all major credit cards including paypal and offer payment installments via Affirm / Klanara. If you decide to use Paypal, you’ll be taken to either their website and then you’ll then be directed back to our page once your transaction is complete.

Where is my refund?

We aim to process refunds within two days of an item being returned to us. Please note, however, that your bank may take several days to process the payment back into your account. Please refer to our refund information tab on our FAQs dropdown for more details related to returns.

Returns

Can I return or exchange an item?

You can absolutely return your item to us, within 14 days after receiving it, as long as it’s undamaged, unused and contained in its original packaging with all tags and labels attached. Unfortunately, we don’t offer exchanges. If you’re unsure about clothing sizes, we recommend ordering the two closest matches and returning the one that doesn’t fit.

How do I return an item?

Please contact our customer service team via help@yourstorename.com. Providing the return is within the 14-day cancellation period and meets our return criteria, we will issue you with a return note by email. You need to print this off and attach it to the packaging of the product when returning it to us. You will need to arrange and pay for suitable packaging when returning an item.

What do I do if I lose my return note?

We send return notes by email, so if you can locate the email we sent you, simply print off a new one. If you can’t find this email, please get in touch and ask for it to be resent to you.

My order has arrived but it’s not as I expected. What can I do?

In the rare event that your order arrives damaged or faulty, please take photos of the product in question and email our customer service team via hhelp@yourstorename.com with the details. We’ll respond within 48 hours. If you just don’t like the product for any reason, we’ll gladly accept it back as a return, providing it’s in “as new” condition, in its original packaging with all labels attached.

How long does it take to return an item?

This depends on the carrier or shipping method that you choose when returning your item. Once we receive your return, we’ll notify you by email. We aim to process refunds within three days after receiving the item into our warehouse, but it can take several days for your bank or credit card provider to process the refund into your account, or onto your card.

No, customizations are not available through our distributors. For personalized saws, please reach out directly to Bad Axe Tool Works.

Do distributors carry all of Bad Axe’s saw models?

Distributors typically stock a selection of our most popular models. For specific or specialty saws, it’s best to contact them directly for availability.

Can I get a Bad Axe saw sharpened through a distributor?

Distributors do not offer sharpening services. You can send your Bad Axe saw directly to us for sharpening.

How can I ensure I’m getting an authentic Bad Axe saw from a distributor?

Our distributors are officially authorized and stock only genuine Bad Axe saws. You can verify their status by checking our website or contacting us directly.

Are Bad Axe saws sold through distributors the same quality as those ordered directly from Bad Axe Tool Works?

Yes, the saws available through our distributors are made with the same craftsmanship and materials as those ordered directly from us.

Do you make axes?

No. Contrairy to the name we do not make axes. We are actually named after the historic Bad Axe county in Wisconsin, USA.

Do Bad Axe saws come with a warranty?

Yes, our saws are built to last and come with a warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship. We can also replace parts on your saw at a low fee if necessary.

Can I get a saw with a custom handle size or material?

Yes! Our custom saws allow you to select from a variety of handle sizes (from XS to XL) and materials like cherry, white oak, walnut, and maple.

How do I know which saw is best for my woodworking projects?

We offer a variety of saws suited to different types of work. If you're unsure, feel free to contact us for guidance on which saw would best match your project requirements.

Our saws are made from high-quality materials, including Swedish spring steel plates, and premium quartersawn hardwoods like cherry, walnut, maple, and white oak for the handles. Can I get a saw with a different toothline than what is standard?

How do I maintain my Bad Axe saw?

To keep your Bad Axe saw in top condition, regularly wipe down the plate until its dry, and occasionally oil the handle to maintain its luster. How often should I sharpen my saw?

What filing options are available for my saw?

We offer several filing options, including Cross-Cut, Rip-Cut, and Hybrid, allowing you to choose the best filing based on your woodworking needs.

Can I send my saw in for repairs?

Do you offer Vintage Saw Restoration?
