No. Contrairy to the name we do not make axes. We are actually named after the historic Bad Axe county in Wisconsin, USA.
Yes, our saws are built to last and come with a warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship. We can also replace parts on your saw at a low fee if necessary.
Yes! Our custom saws allow you to select from a variety of handle sizes (from XS to XL) and materials like cherry, white oak, walnut, and maple. If you want to send in a blank for the handle, email us at info@badaxetoolworks.com for our guidelines and blank size requirements.
Our saws are made from high-quality materials, including Swedish spring steel plates, and premium quartersawn hardwoods like cherry, walnut, maple, and white oak for the handles. We also offer various fastener options, including brass, black, blue, and nickel. Our folded sawbacks are made from sturdy cold rolled steel.
To keep your Bad Axe saw in top condition:
Wipe the plate regularly with metal protectant to remove fingerprints
Occasionally oil the handle to maintain its luster.
Sharpen the teeth as needed, or send your saw to us for professional resharpening.
Store the saw in a cool, dry place to prevent rust.
For folded sawbacks, retensioning is a normal part of maintenance, especially with heavy use or for new users.
The frequency of sharpening depends on usage, but if you notice the saw not cutting as smoothly or effectively, it's time for a sharpening. A general rule is to sharpen the saw every 6-12 months for regular users.
